Huxdotter Coffee was founded in 1990 under the name "Cascade Espresso" in front of Thriftway, now Ace Hardware in North Bend, WA.
The business soon moved across the street to the drive-thru building where we are located now in 1991.
In 1993 a name change was prompted when the original owner began roasting coffee on her own, naming the business "Huxdotter Specialty Coffee".
In Swedish culture, "son" or "dotter" was added onto your fathers first name to determine your last name.
When a woman married, she took her husbands name, always ending in "son" (ex: Anderson).
An unmarried daughter would add "dotter".
The combination of the last name Hux and "dotter" prompted the name Huxdotter for the business, which remains the same today.
