Detailed description is Ikikata Judo Club focuses on traditional Judo, and self-defense as established by Professor Jigoro Kano in 1882. What tends to separate Ikikata Judo Club from many other great clubs is our strong emphasis on the higher principle of Judo, (Big Judo) and its ethical and moral development. The way of Seiryoku Zenyo and Jita Kyoeiin in a pragmatic sense. While Judo's Nage-waza, Katame-waza, and even Atemi-waza [1] are a very important part of our curriculum, we strive to emphasize the moral and ethical principles as well. (An expectation every student practices Respect, Orderly Behavior, and Loyalty among other responsibilities.) Making our clubs focus on the LIFE LONG practice of the essence, and complete [2] Art of Judo, and its prescribed "Way of Life".[3]. . [1] Throwing, grappling, and even striking techniques.. [2] An effective and complete martial art should incorporates all areas of combat / self-defense. i.e. Standing, Grappling, and Striking skills, as well as ethical and moral development. It should also be capable of including every man, woman, and child, regardless of their race, creed, or physical condition.. [3]Our club name, Ikikata .... means "Way of Life.". . Classes:. .
