The Ira Brind School of Theater Arts at the University of the Arts has been providing conservatory training to young artists aspiring to professional careers in theater for over 25 years. Alumni of the Brind School can be found on Broadway, leading regional theaters, film, television and throughout the entertainment industry. Philly audiences know and respect Brind School alumni like Jen Childs (Founder and Artistic Director of 1812 Productions), Pete Pryor (recognized as a Lunt-Fontanne Fellow and recently named Associate Artistic Director of People’s Light and Theatre) and Ben Dibble (recipient of the F. Otto Haas Award as an emerging theater artist in 2006), while national audiences will recognize Ana Ortiz (from TV’s Ugly Betty), KaDee Strickland (Private Practice) and Kelli Barrett (Mr. Popper’s Penguins, opposite Jim Carrey, and Broadway’s Baby, It’s You).
