Detailed description is The ISLE program is a study abroad program based in Kandy, Sri Lanka. ISLE is a rigorous academic program for intellectually motivated students. It's curriculum, taught by leading members of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Peradeniya near Kandy, includes courses of study on Buddhism, history, environmental studies, literature, anthropology, sociology, women's studies, economic development, in addition to intensive instruction in conversational Sinhala and Tamil. Students live with host families for the duration of the program. All complete an independent research project on a topic of choice during the final month of the program.
