Detailed description is Our purpose is to help children develop a love of reading by encouraging them to read what they love and making books available through community support. Sponsors NEEDED for our “It’s FREE to Read” Program!. . This new reading incentive initiated at West Lenoir Elementary School is simple. First, we want to get kids excited to read. Secondly, we desire to promote and encourage the joy of reading, in hopes that students will become lifelong readers. Not every child has a book at home, or the opportunity to go to the store and buy one. That’s where YOU come in. West Lenoir Elementary has converted a room in our Media Center into a “bookstore” for our children. We would like to give all students a first FREE book in order to kick off their reading journey. The kids can keep the book as long as they like, and when finished, they may return it to the bookstore to exchange it for another selection. This allows them to take their time and enjoy reading their new book.. . This new program has already won a gift from a national advertising agency, Paragon Design Group. Paragon is designing a professional logo to utilize in future advertisements, and promotions for the program. We hope that this is the beginning of something that will grow not only here at West Lenoir Elementary, but will perhaps expand into other elementary schools throughout Caldwell County… and beyond. We are working on spreading the word, and are currently accepting new and gently used books at the former Venti’s Casa Bookstore at 912 West Ave, Uptown Lenoir, or at West Lenoir Elementary School.. . HOW CAN YOU HELP? We need to raise $1,000.00 to purchase books to kick off this program. As stated above, we are collecting new and gently used books, but would like to buy enough books to have a healthy variety for the store. We are also ordering materials for the program to give to the students such as bookmarks, stickers, etc. We would ask that you consider one of the following donation amounts:. $ 50.00 Bronze Level $100.00 Silver Level $200.00 Gold Level. With any amount of donation you will get a newsletter at various times throughout the year, detailing how the program is progressing, and highlighting student success stories. We will also inform you of special events at our store that you may want to participate in, or perhaps just observe. With the “Gold Level” your company name will appear on items to support this program such as posters, banners, etc. All donations are tax deductible. Please write checks to West Lenoir PTA/It’s Free to Read. . . On a final note, an Open House and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will be held on December 16, 2014, in the Media Center.
