In 2005, Jim and Jamie Winslow were inspired to serve America’s returning wounded veterans by developing an unprecedented program that would bring the healing of golf into their lives.
They co-founded the Salute Military Golf Association, a non-profit, charitable organization that encourages injured veterans to use golf as a means to overcome the limitations caused by the visible and invisible wounds of war.
SMGA supports this effort by providing golf equipment, golf training, and golfing opportunities at local courses and national tournaments..

In 2007, Jim and the SMGA were provided support for specialized training of PGA Professionals, as well as funding for teaching and for acquiring golf equipment for wounded veterans.
Over the past two years, Jim has led a cadre of PGA Professionals in conducting free individual lessons for veterans in eight-session clinics conducted on Saturdays in the Spring and Fall.
