The one and only secret sauce recipe orginally from Joe Bury from late 1920's has passed down to family member then to next 3rd generation family member-Vinnie Bury... How that happened...?... Bury Burgers were the thing to eat in York throughout much of the century from Brothers Gerald Bury & Joseph K. Bury. There were 11 Bury Restaurants, mostly in York City. Joseph K. Bury who got his entrepreneurial start as a newsboy at age 7, branched out into the restaurant business in 1924 with a trademark hamburger and onion sandwich, a burger that eventually outshadowed the crab cakes and oyster sandwiches he'd sold from a basket. Gerald Bury, (Vinnie's grandfather) meanwhile began operating restaurants in 1936. they also sold their burgers at the York Fair. Joe died in 1959; Gerald died in 1985. The next year, the last Bury's restaurant, at 508 E Market St closed. As for non-homegrown burgers, the first McDonald's opened in North York around the beginning of 1970.~ Since Gerald's son was named after his brother Joseph K. Bury, Joe had the original recipe. Joe's one son Vinnie would spent summers fishing with his dad at the beach, begging for that recipe. Joe never gave out the recipe till his passing on 2006 that he had in his safe deposit box at the bank and his son Vinnie Bury got it as he was promised to have the recipe. Now here we are, Vinnie Bury wants to honor his family's legacy, he swears to keep the recipe a secret. His dad never gave out the recipe, he quoted he's not giving out the recipe, Now Vinnie Bury and his long time girlfriend Laurie want to carry on his family's legacy and open shops back up.... . Now they are running the business to branch it out to different locations-events with the concession trailer.
