Detailed description is We are excited to minister with The Navigators at Wichita State University by helping improve the lives of students through spiritual growth. One score and five years ago, John was born in a log cabin in the middle of the woods of Illinois. Or in a hosptial. It's all quite fuzzy, and to be honest, he really doesn't remember the whole ordeal. But that mysterious and certainly epic birth set him on a path that led to 2012, when he joined staff with The Navigators at the University of Nebraska-Kearney! After growing up in a loving household in Dubuque, IA, he studied philosophy at the University of Northern Iowa. Though he went to a great church growing up, he didn't start sincerely following Jesus until his time at UNI, when his life was turned upside down thanks to God's grace and the faithful and patient witness of friends in his dorm. Shortly after, an upperclassman in his dorm started teaching him in the faith and helping him grow in his walk with Jesus, and a few years later, he did the same for freshmen in his dorm. When the opportunity came to continue doing this full-time with The Navigators, he couldn't pass it up, and the rest, as they say, is geography. Now the rest of the acts of John, and all that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Navigators of Kearney?. . Courtney was born the middlest of children in the Nelsen clan in 1991. Without the priveleges of being the oldest or the coddling reserved for the youngest, she of course emerged out of childhood with just the right amount of maturity. Or not. When she got to college, God showed Courtney just how far she falls short of His glory and revealed His desire to help her continually grow in her walk with Him. During her time in college she was discipled by her friend Machelle, a Navigator staff member. Machelle didn't just share biblical principles over a cup of coffee; she welcomed Courtney into her life and gave her a godly example to follow. As they cooked meals, picked up her kids from activities, and ran errands together, Machelle showed Courtney how to do life and ministry as a follower of Christ. Courtney is excited to be on staff with The Navigators and do for girls on campus what Machelle did for her: share her life so that she can share Christ!. . We hope to use this page to connect with our friends and family who partner with us in ministry through prayer and financial support.
