Detailed description is Southern soul, northern ingredients Joinery is a new restaurant on the culinary scene on the west side of Great Bay, located at 55 Main Street in Newmarket, NH. . . Joinery offers a diverse menu that will spotlight seasonal ingredients from farm and sea, including the freshest seafood, a bounty of local vegetables, and meats predominantly from local farms. One local farm, Birch Hill, which belongs to the family of one of the partners in the venture, will provide much of the meat on the menu. Joinery will take a more holistic look at the contents of each plate and offer an even balance of local products. Craft beers, wines and infused cocktails will complement the cuisine with surprising local ingredients and combinations.. . The name "Joinery" itself pays tribute to the Birch Hill family barn that burned down in 2013. The barn's colonial-era construction was a classic example of post-and-beam joinery, a building method that required little or no hardware other than the wood beams themselves. Joinery, the restaurant, reflects the beauty and utility of simpler times, and it also invites everyone to come together to celebrate all the goodness that is from here. . . Like the menu, the decor reflects a love of farms, the people who run them, and the beauty that can be found in fresh ingredients. An experienced staff in both the kitchen and the front of the house will provide professional and welcoming hospitality. . . The restaurant is a collaborative effort between Evan and Denise Mallett of Black Trumpet in Portsmouth and Chef Brendan Vesey, most recently of Street 360 in Portsmouth. Vesey is a veteran of our local food scene. Chef Vesey's upbringing in Virginia has informed much of his palate as a chef, and the Southern flair he brings to the menu will fit right in with the farmhouse cuisine of Joinery. .
