Detailed description is Perpetuating the Polynesian culture through the dances of Hawaii, Tahiti, New Zealand, Samoa & Tokelau. Classes are offered to all ages and ability levels. We welcome any and all who have an open mind and willingness to learn! Perpetuating the Polynesian culture through the dances of Hawaii, Tahiti, New Zealand, and Tokelau led by Kumu Keali`ikiaehale. Kumu Kealii, a Honolulu Hawai'i native, was born into a family of musicians and dancers. From the age of three, she was fully immersed into her culture and heritage. Kumu Kealii's mana'o, background, and career is greatly attributed to Na Kumu Hula Leilani Alama and Keli'i Chang, Tiana and Riki Liufau of Nonosina, Tavana, Tihati, Hawaiian Hut Seas Revue, and numerous Tahitian and Hawaiian workshops. She established her own halau, Kealii's in 1982, and has fully immersed herself in teaching any and all who wish to learn more about the Polynesian culture. The halau has been fortunate enough to travel to Texas, California, Montana, Hawaii, Kansas, and Missouri for the Polynesian culture. In 2010, the halau was invited to compete in the 37th Annual King Kamehameha hula competition with Ka Pa Hula 'Umoumou led by Kumu Keli'i. In July 2011, Kumu Keali'i led Halau O Kukuna O Ka La to their first and very successful hula competition--Mana I Ka Hula. Alongside Kumu Keli’i and his halau Halau Ho’ola Ka Mana O Hawaii, the halau traveled to Florida to compete at Orlando’s Ho’ike Hawai’i hula competition in 2013. In 2014, Kumu Keali’i competed in the Ori Tahiti Solo category of Orlando, Florida’s Ho’ike Hawai’i hula competition. Kumu Keali’i garnered a first place win in the Category D division. In September 2015, the halau competed with Ka Pa Hula Na Pua O Kamali'i led by Kumu Nani Kamali'i-Chang at E Hula Mau in Long Beach, California.
