Detailed description is LaGrange College was the forerunner of UNA, located in northwest Alabama, on the spur of the Cumberland Mountain, over looking the Tennessee Valley. The LaGrange Living Historical Association formed in 1988 as a 501 (c-3) non-profit organization. The primary goal was to preserve and maintain the old college site and historic cemetery. Twelve log buildings, over the years were available to the Association to be moved to the College Site. All were scheduled to be destroyed when we saved and restored them. They now serve as a Welcome Center, log barn, smoke house, log kitchen, chapel-school house, country store, black-smith shop, B & B Inn and more. There is also, a caretaker's house on the premises. The park is open daily; however, restrooms at the pavilion are "shut down" from Dec. 1 to April 1. There is a rental fee for using the park. 256-446-9324. The park operates on private donations that is tax deductible and rental of the site and buildings. LLHA membership is: $15.00 individual and $20.00 family. dues can be sent to LLHA, P. O. Box, Leighton, AL.35646. Quarterly newsletter is sent to members. Volunteers are welcome.
