Lakes Area Christian Fellowship

Wood,

Wisconsin,United-states - 54457

Detailed description is Lakes Area Christian Fellowship (www.lakesfellowship.net) meets in the town hall in the town of Rome, WI each Sunday at 9:30am.
Bethlehem Church in Nekoosa, WI was led by the Holy Spirit to begin a ministry in the growing town of Rome in 1999.
From the beginning this mission has been a part of Bethlehem's ministry, as we say "one church, two locations." Pastor Del Rossin had been the pastor almost from the beginning as he had served on the Pastoral staff at Bethlehem part-time, but mostly at Rome until retiring in 2013.
Pastor Bill Fischer has now taken over and can be reached through messaging this page..
.
Our goal has been to equip the saints here for ministry as we grow together in the love of Jesus; but also a major emphasis is to reach many unchurched in the Rome community with the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Thus our purpose statement: "To know Christ and to make Him known.".
.
God has blessed us with numerical and spiritual growth.
Beginning with 20+ in attendance, we now average over 100 per Sunday.
Two Ladies' Bible Fellowships share the Word, pray, worship, and bless one another; one on Monday evenings and the other on Wednesday mornings.
From time to time Pastor Del has a men's Bible Study and a Bible Class on Sunday mornings before church..
.
Our church services are in the Rome Town Hall (13 and "D") at 9:30 A.M.
From mid May to mid September we worship outdoors under the trees on the Town Hall lawn.
Since summer time sees many weekenders in the area, our numbers really swell those months.
What a wonderful opportunity to "Make Him known!".
.
A major focus for us is to reach more people for Jesus, and many of the new people have been invited by our "regulars" as they also have caught that outreach vision.
Below is a list of some of the events we sponsor, praying that the Holy Spirit will use them to lead people to know and follow Jesus..
.
OUR BELIEFS.
.
We are Christians.
Our primary identity is that of "Christian." This defines us as a certain group of people, found in every nation of the Earth, who trust in and follow Jesus Christ.
We believe the same basic understanding of God and the world based on the Bible.
.
.
Different Understandings of God.
There are four basic understandings of God in the world..
Atheism is the belief that there is no God and that the universe and everything in it was self-generated.
In this view there is no real meaning to our existence and no eternity to look forward to.
.
.
Polytheism is the belief that there are many gods who interact with the world, often times reflecting basic characteristics of humans, both good and evil.
This is the view of Hindus, animists, Mormons and Native American religions..
.
Pantheism is the belief that everything is God and God is everything.
The goal of pantheism is to become one with the universe and eventually to lose all self-consciousness.
This is the view of Buddhists and various forms of New Age..
.
Monotheism is the belief that there is one Creator God who rules the Universe through divine principles and laws.
He has further spoken into the world through Prophetic revelations.
This is the view of Jews, Christians and Muslims, although Jews and Muslims believe that acceptance by God can only occur through a life of religious and moral good works..
.
Christianity’s Understanding of God.
Christians understand from the Bible that this One God has revealed Himself as three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19).
These three persons are distinct and yet one being.
Sometimes illustrations of this belief have been used, such as water taking on the form of solid, liquid or gas.
However such illustrations do not fully explain this mystery, since one molecule of water can only be in one form at a time.
God, on the other hand, is all three at the same time (Matthew 3:16-17).
Each person is fully God, yet there are not three Gods, but one.
This understanding of God means that God has always known community.
This is why God values love above all else.
.
Furthermore, we believe that the Father sent the Son to be the substitute, standing in for all sinners on the cross (Isaiah 53:5).
He took the punishment for sin that we have all deserved, then rose again as evidence that the payment was accepted (Romans 4:25).
He then sent the Holy Spirit to bring us to faith, equip us to live a Christian life and share this Good News with others(1 Corinthians 12:3, Romans 15:16, Acts 1:8).
Jesus made it clear that He was the only hope of salvation for all people (John 14:6).
.
.
Tribes of Christianity.
The Old Testament people of God, Israel, was divided into 12 tribes.
Similarly New Testament Christians have formed “tribes,” each tribe bringing a little different emphasis to the table.
We believe that all these “tribes” make a valuable contribution.
We want to affirm all true Christians as well as explain what uniqueness our “tribe” brings to the table..
One of the greatest reformers of the Church was Martin Luther, a 16th century monk who led the Protestant Reformation.
As a devout monk Luther struggled with God’s justice and his own unworthiness.
No matter what he did to feel better about himself there was always a gnawing sense of guilt.
Pilgrimages, fasting, prayers, solitude, alms and relics could not calm his anxious conscience.
It was his study of Scripture that began to turn the light on in his heart and head as he realized that a relationship with God was a gift from God, given freely on the basis of what Jesus did for him through His life, death and resurrection (Ephesians 2:8-9).
He described this experience as being "born all over again" (1 Peter 1:23)..
.
Lakes Area Christian Fellowship shares with Luther this basic understanding of acceptance by God because of His grace and mercy.
Supporting this is our basic belief that faith alone as the way that we receive this grace (Romans 1:17).
Faith is not merely an intellectual belief in the historical facts of Christianity, but the clinging of a sinner to Christ as his only hope of salvation (Hebrews 11:6).
Such faith is not a decision but a revelation (Ephesians 1:17).
The Holy Spirit enlightens a person’s heart and mind to the truth of the Gospel.
In a sense it is a complete dependency upon a gracious God..
Furthermore we believe that the basis of this faith is the Bible (2 Timothy 3:16), which we believe is the Word of God and an accurate record of God’s dealing with humanity from the beginning of time through the entrance of Jesus Christ and His Apostles.
We believe that this book has authority over everything we believe and practice (2 Timothy 3:17).
We have no right to add to it or take away from it..
.
The Gospel.
There are many outlines for the Gospel.
This one is based around the Trinity..
1. There is one God who desires to be our Heavenly Father.
He created the human race to be in that special relationship with Him (Genesis 1:27).
But our ancestors rebelled against God and lost that relationship (Genesis 3:6).
That predisposition to sin is a part of every person (Romans 3:20).
It separates us from God.
And as a result the human race feels a longing for something that they don’t quite know how to get back (1 Peter 1:18).
.
2. Therefore God the Father sent His only-begotten Son.
We believe that Jesus was fully God, conceived by the Holy Spirit, and fully man, born of the Virgin Mary (Matthew 1:23, Luke 1:31-32).
He proved His identity by His teaching and miracles, and then suffered and died on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins by taking the punishment of sin upon Himself (1 Corinthians 15:3).
He then rose bodily from the dead and ascended into Heaven (1 Corinthians 15:4).
One day He will return to judge the world (2 Timothy 4:1) and receive into Heaven those who have trusted in Him and while those who reject His loving offer of salvation will be lost forever in Hell (Matthew 25:35, 41).
.
3. But faith is not easy.
In fact, it is too hard for any person to produce in himself or herself.
It does not simply believe that God exists or that the words of the Gospel story are true in some historical way.
It believes that God has taken away our sins and that He has declared us to be His children and that we will certainly live with Him forever (Romans 8:15:16).
Such faith and certainty is beyond human ability.
Therefore the Father and the Son sent forth the Holy Spirit, the life and power of God Himself (John 14:26; John 15:26).
Through the Gospel, whether it is purely in spoken form or in picture form (Baptism and Holy Communion) He not only speaks, but His Word creates, faith (Romans 10:17).
When you hear the Gospel and find faith rising up within you, do not resist it.
That is the activity of the Holy Spirit.
He then incorporates you into His church where you learn more and more about His work in your life (Acts 2:47)..
.
Lakes Area Christian Fellowship practices two sacraments:.
Baptism.
We believe that baptism is a washing away of our sins (Acts 22:16) and our means of identification with Jesus.
Through it our old nature was buried with Him and our new nature was raised us (Romans 6:3-4) .
We also believe that baptism is a promise of God, not the commitment of a Christian.
Therefore, although many wonderful Christian groups only practice baptism for people who have reached an age of understanding, we do baptize infants as well as adults, believing that they too have been included in the promise of God (Acts 2:39).
Even as infants understand their relationship to their biological parents long before they are able to verbalize that relationship, so we believe an infant can understand a relationship with God long before he or she can verbalize it (Psalm 22:9).
Faith can live in an infant or an Alzheimer's patient as easily as a fully functional adult because faith is not dependent on intellectual understanding.
If you are interested in learning more about baptism, please contact us or post a question..
.
Holy Communion.
We believe that the words of the Bible are important and were carefully chosen by the Holy Spirit.
Therefore when Jesus said, "This is my body," and "This is the New Covenant in my blood," we believe He was being literal (Matthew 26:26-28).
Yet this is a supernatural presence where Jesus comes to us connected to the bread and wine or grape juice.
This New Covenant meal was inaugurated at a Passover meal and the analogy of Passover is of great help to our understanding (Mark 14:16).
In Passover the Israelites were commanded to place the blood of the sacrificial lamb on the door posts and lentils of their homes and then to eat the Lamb that was sacrificed (Exodus 12:7; Numbers 9:11).
Similarly in Holy Communion we are receiving the blood of Christ over our hearts and we experience intimate fellowship with Him by consuming His body and blood (1 Corinthians 10:16).
Doing this in remembrance is more than a cognitive memory of what Jesus did for us a long time ago, but an entering into the event of Good Friday by faith..
.
The Ministry of the Holy Spirit.
We believe that the Holy Spirit comes to us through the Word and the Sacraments (Ephesians 1:13).
We then respond to God through Worship, Service and Witness.
All of these are ways the Holy Spirit flows out of us to others.
Jesus describes the Holy Spirit as a fountain and a river, but not a pond (John 7:38).
The Holy Spirit not only wants to live in us, He wants to flow through us to others, using spiritual gifts, talents, and resources to bless them (1 Corinthians 12:4-6).
This is what the New Testament describes as the Spirit-filled life.
Receiving the Holy Spirit can be both a unique out pouring event (fountain – Acts 2:4)) and an ongoing daily experience (river – Ephesians 5:18).
In either case the key to receiving all that God has for us is faith (Galatians 3:5)..
.
Worship.
We encourage much variety in worship, emphasizing the heart rather than the external forms (John 4:23).
Our worship is a blend of old and new, trusted age-old hymns and modern worship songs.
We appreciate a relaxed atmosphere where the Holy Spirit can work in and through us for the mutual benefit of all of us.
Central to our worship is Biblical teaching which lifts up the message of the Gospel.
