Detailed description is The Language Intervention Lab at LSU is led by Dr. Jan Norris & Dr. Paul Hoffman as well as their team of graduate and undergraduate students. The Language Intervention Lab is committed to improving the speech, language, and literacy skills of children through both research and practice rooted in a literacy context. . . Populations include early intervention and school-age children diagnosed with various developmental disabilities such as autism spectrum disorders, intellectual disability, language and/or learning disorders, Down syndrome, and other disorders. In addition, our projects address young children and school-age students who do not have a specific diagnosis, but are struggling or at-risk. . . Our team is currently investigating the role of the SLP in the newly adopted Common Core State Standards, effective strategies and interventions for improving reading and writing skills, how to treat phonology and articulation in a literacy context, and ways to identify at-risk kindergarteners. . .
