Lansing is bordered by Glenwood and Thornton to the west, Calumet City and South Holland to the north, Lynwood to the south, and by Munster and Hammond in Indiana to the east.According to the 2010 census, Lansing has a total area of 6.848sqmi, of which 6.79sqmi is land and 0.058sqmi is water.
