Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist

1053 Liberty Hill Rd NE

Cobb,

Georgia,United-states - 30066

Detailed description is Fun, Family & Fellowship By the grace of God, Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church was established in 1867.
Faithful members worshiped the Lord in a small log cabin on Canton Road with Reverend Burg, as the first pastor.
On June 18, 1876, Joe Gresham and other trustees of Liberty Hill entered into an agreement to purchase one acre of land for the sum of five dollars upon which the present building rests.
"This land belongs to the members, trustees and their successors as long as they keep a church on it for worship.
Whenever it ceases to be used for church purposes, the said land is to revert to J.B.
Blackwell, for himself, his heirs, executives and administrators." Although the church buildings have been destroyed by fire twice, circa 1876 and on Easter morning, April 13, 1941, this church body has endured through it all.
.
.
In the years between 1867 and 1939, there have been many pastors who have led this church.
All of them served faithfully under the direction of the Holy Spirit.
In 1939, Reverend Ralph R.
Freeman was pastor until his death on September 25, 1976.
It is believed that he was the longest tenured leader in our church history.
Under his leadership the church prospered.
He built the church building after the 1941 fire and started the present church building.
He also brought the church body through the split of the church in the aftermath of that fire.
At that time, many of the members wanted to rebuild the church building in the city of Marietta and not rebuild on the old site.
The disagreement was resolved by establishing a new church in the city of Marietta named Pine Street Baptist Church and the remaining members remained on the site.
.
.
On April 3, 1977, Reverend Hugh E.
Byrd was called to pastor Liberty Hill.
He served until 1979.
Under his leadership, the present church building was completed and dedicated on October 22, 1978.
.
.
Reverend Donald L.
White served from 1980 to 1987 and Reverend Benjamin Davis, Jr.
served from June 1987 to 1998.
In 1998 through 1999, Reverend John Garrett, the senior associate minister, contracted to serve as interim pastor.
From 1998 through 2000, Reverend Garrett, the Board of Deacons and the Associate Ministers served to mend the spirit and to redirect the path of the church to a new vision and prepare the church body for the future..
.
June 11, 2000 Reverend Amos Williams, Jr.
agreed to lead Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
Under his leadership we have embarked upon a new challenge.
In June 2002 the church body acquired five acres of land.
This additional acreage combined with our previous purchases brought our total land acreage to 10 acres.
The use of this land has not yet been determined, but with our Savior's direction it will be used for his purpose.
.
.
In April 2008 Pastor Williams and the trustees instituted Spring Family Retreat.
Through his "Family First Ministry" Pastor Williams' main focus is reuniting the family.
He also instituted a womens ministry, mens ministry, kitchen ministry, mentorship between the senior and youth ushers, a discipleship class for new members and other interested members, and marriage classes.
Pastor Williams is a firm believer in Christian Education.
He teaches Bible Study on wednesday nights and encourages Sunday School attendance.
He also established a Learning Center in the building adjacent to the main sanctuary.
Liberty Hill was blessed with two deacons under his leadership, Deacon Roscoe Campbell and Deacon Richard Allen.
.
.
June 6, 2010 Pastor Amos Williams, Jr.
implemented a summer worship schedule, including Childrens Church, with worship service starting at 9:30 A.M.
This alleviates having service during the hottest part of the day, and gives families more time to spend together.
Also, under Pastor Williams' leadership, a college bound program was instituted and overseen by the Ushers Ministry.
The Youth Church was resurrected and serves as a catalyst for the church.
Pastor Williams will continue to steer our present and direct our future toward the vision that God has given to him, with the prayers of the church body, the anointing and the direction of the Holy Spirit.
May God bless and keep him, and continue to make His face to shine upon him..
.
Our history continues to write itself with every soul that is saved, and with every good work done in the name of Jesus to the glory of God our Father.
