As Doors Open Waterloo Region describes:. . The Wellesley Mill is a rarity among existing Ontario Mill buildings, both for its age and construction. Built originally in 1856 and the addition added in 1910. Its half timber walls consist of massive timber framing resting on a stone foundation, with brick infilling between the timbers. Few mills have survived from the nineteenth century in such good condition, and most of those that have are built either of brick or stone. The foundation walls of the Wellesley Mill range between thirty inches and three to four feet in thickness. Remnants of original milling equipment, including pulleys, bins and other memorabilia from the mills past are still in place.. .
