Detailed description is We provide our homeless friends with essential everyday items that most of us take for granted.
Something small to us is HUGE to them.

My first personal involvement with our local homeless population was in early 2014.
I held a benefit at work for my friend and mentor from back in culinary school (L'Ecole Culinaire, Class of 2013!!), Jacki Dirksmeyer.
In early 2015 I realized that there was a huge untapped resource in my immediate community as well as the surrounding cities.
I decided to start the first local street outreach group in State Park Place which I named The 618 Squad, kind of an Illinois branch of Feed My Peeps which was the name of my friend Jacki's ministry that moves food all over the city to those in need.
After recruiting some local volunteers and introducing them to our displaced friends on the streets as well as other groups and individuals that served, we were asked for permission to attach The 618 Squad name to another FB group that wanted to start their first Street Outreach team.
Things happened beyond our control and Making A Difference was born shortly after, not only out of need from our homeless friends but also because the local communities wanted to continue to be involved and be a part of something that made a difference, hence the name.
On March 22nd, 2017, we were granted 501(c)3 status from the IRS.
Shortly after, we were blessed with a shuttle bus to accommodate our continuous growth.
All donations are tax deductable.
We of course do not have a paid staff (This isn't Goodwill lol), 100% of every donation finds it's way to our homeless friends.
It is because of the huge amount of support that we are able to serve in some way 7 days a week, 365 days out of the year.
This is our story and it's only the beginning.
