Malin Potato Cooperative, Inc. became a dream come true for twelve farmers from the Klamath Basin in 1969. These potato farmers wanted to form an organization that could and would provide the best quality of "Sand Land" potatoes to their marketing customers. With a member base of three generations of "Family Farm" growers, the organization has grown to be a very reputable supplier of great quality potatoes. Customer satisfaction is of utmost importance to the growers and the employees of the packing facility. . Along with providing customers with quality potatoes the organization and the potato growers are proud of the fact that they can provide verification and documentation through the Oregon Department of Agriculture and Primus farm and packing facility "Food Safety" audit program. From the farm to the market food safety is a number one priority. Fields are audited annually by the Oregon Department of Agriculture for crop production practices and record keeping regarding water quality, use of bio-solids, land history, documented employee training on the importance of food safety and health and hygiene practices. . The packing facility is audited annually by the Oregon Department of Agriculture and Primus to verify that the facility is implementing a verifiable documented food safety and quality assurance system. The packing facility is audited for but not limited to the following; employee training in preventing food contamination implementing a pest control program, documented temperature management in cold sotreage and transportation of product, daily, weekly, monthly facility cleaning and maintenance compliance and documentation, traceability of product from the farm to the time it is shipped to the customer. . Malin Potato Cooperative's, management personnel are committed to adhering to industrial food safety practices by providing continual training in food safety, employee safety and good health and hygiene practices to ensure they are providing the customer with a high quality product free from contaminants.
