It is a small country, rich in natural beauty and the welcoming smiles of its people. No matter what time of year, visitors to our country will come across at least one of hundreds of festivals being celebrated in the Philippines. Each region in the Philippines has its own unique and colorful way of celebrating their distinct regional culture in yearly festivals. This rich cultural diversity among our Filipino people as well as our heartwarming hospitality is what we aim to showcase and share with others in our new home we call Winnipeg, Manitoba.. . The move to downtown Winnipeg for the 2016 Manitoba Filipino Street festival proved to be a good decision for the festival, as it saw upwards of 16000 in attendance, with over 60 associations and groups setting up booths, tents and participating in the longest ever street parade in its 5 year history of the festival. As in previous years, we will be hosting several pre-festival events. Our annual Tiangge ng Bayan (community market and entertainment) will be bigger and better this year, as it will coincide with the celebration of the Philippine Independence Day Celebration on June 10, 2017. As well, the 5th year of the Queen of the Festival pageant will be happening on July 9, 2017.. . This year’s festival will be on August 26, 2017 downtown on Broadway Avenue and Memorial Boulevard. The parade will start at 9am and the whole day festivities will continue until 10 pm. We are planning a feast for all your senses.
