Detailed description is First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) was founded in 1941.
The first Church building was an old log school house sitting on a little knoll at the south edge of Spillertown hard Road.
The new church building, which stood at the site of the present day church, was dedicated on July 1, 1877.
In 1913 it became evident that the old brick building was no longer adequate for the needs of the members and work of the community.
It was torn down and church and Sunday school were held at the Roland Theater until the new building was finished.
On September 27, 1914 the new building was finished and dedicated.
On the night of April 11,1927 there was a disastrous fire caused by an electrical short that destroyed all but the outside walls.
The church was immediately rebuilt and rededicated on March 25,1928.
This same building, except for some minor modifications, repairing and enlarging of the pipe organ, has and continues to serve the community and congregation well.
