Detailed description is Mark Buterbaugh, current School Board President, is seeking reelection to the SASD School Board in the Borough of Shippensburg, District C. I served on the SASD School Board from 2000 to 2004. I did not seek reelection due to attending Law School. In 2012, I made the decision to run for the Board once again due to the awful 56.6% performance score at SASHS. . . Working with administrators, teachers, and students, SASHS performance score is now 91.3%, ranking it the second best high school out of 22 surrounding high schools. We have made remarkable progress. We can be better. We can pursue academic excellence from Kindergarten to High School. Our community and our students deserve our very best efforts. . . We are blessed to have Shippensburg University in the heart of our school district. I have put forth best efforts to build new relationships with University leadership to further the cooperation between the University and the District. We can strengthen the core foundation of that relationship while working to come to a long-term agreement to ensure GBLUES Lab School continues, thrives, and becomes a cutting edge laboratory school. . . I am proud of the progress and awards our schools have received over the past two years. My goal is to continue to pursue accountability, academic excellence, and responsible spending. We have tightened the budget and eliminated budget deficits with minimal impacts. I am absolutely committed to continuing the progress and still believe I have much to offer in the conversation and discussion of making Shippensburg schools excellent. . .
