This is a unique practical playwriting course and will appeal to aspiring playwrights, performance artists, directors, dramaturges and critics alike. It will focus not only on the craft of writing for performance but also on how a script plays out in real space and time, and in front of an audience.. Key features:. . • The programme will be taught through a dynamic combination of seminars, workshops, one to one supervision, and professional master-classes led by some of Europe’s leading playwrights and theatre artists.. • A core component of the programme will be development workshops with professional actors and established directors, focusing on students’ own work. It is totally unique in the UK in the high level of contact and teaching by established professionals.. • Students will be encouraged and supported to build links to the professional theatre scene in Edinburgh and beyond.. • The academic year will culminate in a public, professional reading of the students’. work-in-progress at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
