Detailed description is Providing school programs and event venues in a peaceful, environment-friendly setting that energizes creativity and sends participants away feeling recharged. The McKeever Environmental Learning Center is folded into a natural wooded setting about 75 miles north of Pittsburgh near Sandy Lake in Mercer County. This environmental education facility consists of 205-acres of “living textbook” where the pages are often 60-feet tall, 100 years old, something slimy and, of course, always in living color. . . Anyone is welcome to come and enjoy the four miles of trails that meander through hardwood forests with streams, meadows and hemlock ravines. These are open to the public sunrise to sunset every day of the year.. . The McKeever Center is administered by Slippery Rock University on behalf of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. . .
