Detailed description is Meade County Fire Protection District The Meade County Fire District (MCFD) is one of eight fire departments in Meade County, covering the City of Brandenburg and immediate outlying areas, as well as the communities of Doe Valley, Rock Haven, Weldon, portions of Midway, and Otter Creek Park. However, the MCFD will respond to emergencies throughout the county if requested by other fire departments. The MCFD is a volunteer department including approximately 40 volunteers, covering an area of about 60 square miles and over 50 miles of riverfront (the most in the Commonwealth of Kentucky). We operate nine pieces of firefighting apparatus and two boats out of two stations while responding to 400-500 calls annually. Typical calls for service include responses to structural, vehicle, and wildland fires; auto accidents; lost persons searches; water emergencies on the Ohio River; medical assist responses; and hazardous materials responses.
