Detailed description is Merced County Legal Professionals Association (formerly known as Merced County Legal Secretaries Association) was founded in 1982. We meet at noon on the last Thursday of each month at the Elks Club on the corner of 19th and “M” Streets. We offer monthly education through our “Brown Bag” workshops, regularly scheduled meetings, and our monthly newsletter “For the Record”. Our membership also offers networking with other local legal professionals, along with benefits and discounts such as credit union membership, medical and dental insurance, and a disability income plan, just to name a few. We offer a study group for members interested in preparing to the take the California Legal Secretaries (CCLS) exam. We also give annual scholarships to non-members pursuing a career in the legal field, and we donate to local charities at Christmas. . . Our association also sponsors any interested member with a script ticket to attend any one of the four conferences offered through Legal Secretaries Incorporated (LSI), which is a state-wide non-profit mutual benefit corporation (for more information visit the website at www.lsi.org).. . Each conference offers legal specialization section workshops for the following areas of law: estate planning, transactional law, criminal law, law office administration and civil litigation which are conducted by respected attorneys, judges and educators.
