Detailed description is We engage Messiah College in the process of spiritual Christian formation through Bible studies, small groups, chapel, prayer opportunities, and mentoring. Although we are known primarily for our involvement in Chapel, we offer many opportunities that serve to aid in the spiritual development of the individuals on campus and the community as a whole, helping students discover God in their studies and relationships.. . These opportunities include Koinonia, Powerhouse, prayer nights, and mentorship with our Ministry staff. We also advise our Student Chaplain Team.. . . || KOINONIA ||. . << What is Koinonia? >> . Koinonia is Messiah’s small group ministry on campus. We provide leadership, structure, accountability, and inter-generational contact in order to equip students to create and run their own small group Bible studies. . . -a place to meet like-minded Christ-followers and go deeper. -a safe setting to bring your questions about life or God or the Bible. -a refuge from first year superficiality. -an easy way to plug in—just sign up and show up. -a more intimate surrounding where you can be transparent and vulnerable. . << Mission >>. Initiated and led solely by students, Powerhouse is a high-energy praise session entirely dedicated to honoring God through music and meditation.. . << When >>. 8:30-9:30 pm every Thursday night. . . . || CHAPEL ||. . Messiah offers a variety of different chapel experiences. Common Chapels, for the entire student body, are held in Brubaker Auditorium on Tuesday and a few Thursday mornings. Elective Chapels, which offer students a choice between liturgical worship, Bible teaching, praise and worship, mission awareness, and more, are held on the remaining Thursday mornings at the regular chapel hour. Alternate Chapels are services held at other times and planned by various student organizations and special interest groups.. . Though we hope that students will be challenged in their faith through chapel, we realize that spiritual nurture is ultimately a function of each person's will, preference and responsibility and cannot be subject to requirements. Chapel is required as a common experience. Spiritual nurture is each student's own responsibility.. . . .
