We are an organization of many people, mostly youth, and we carry out a variety of environmental action programs throughout the region. We believe that this our planet and our future, and we want to make sure our children have the same beautiful earth, we do. . . One of our newest programs is the Fresh Roots Farm at Campgaw Mountain County Reservation in Mahwah, New Jersey. In total MEVO has over 2.5 acres of farm land that we manage and grow thousands of pounds of clean, nutritious, and sustainable fruits and vegetables on every year. You can buy our food and support our farm by visiting us at the Glen Rock Farmers Market (http://www.grfarmersmarket.com/) on Sunday or buy purchasing a share of our Community Supported Agriculture program (http://mevoearth.org/csa/). In addition, our farms are a hub of energy welcoming thousands of volunteers each year who have a desire to give back to the community and get their hands dirty. Our open volunteer days are 10:00am - 4:00pm Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday at the farm. We also have a small army of seasonal interns and a few staff that teach all of our educational programs and are building our farm every single day. From building a greenhouse constructed out of 80% recycled materials to laying out our raised beds to catch rain and dramatically reduce our water usage our team is exploring some of the most innovative sustainable practices available. . . We have been organizing trash clean-ups since MEVO's first volunteer event in 2008. To date we have carried out over 85 trash clean-ups and removed well over 500,000lbs of waste from the forests of Stag Hill in Mahwah, New Jersey. This massive number includes over 5,000 tires, paint, cars, tar shingles, insulation, and much more. We organize roughly 20 trash clean-ups a year and they are all publicized on our facebook page and website. . . If farming and trash clean-ups isn't enough MEVO also manages a Honey Bee Apiary of over 21 bee hives or roughly 1.2 million bees. We harvest over 1000lbs of honey from our hives each year and sell it to support our organization.
