Mohnsen Creek Antlercraft started a while back when I decided to use some of the antlers I'd found over the years to make a few Father's Day presents.
These went over very well, and I started working on the next batch of birthday and Christmas presents right away..

The idea to make them for sale however got a kick start by a would-be thief the following summer.
We had hired a local carpet cleaner to work at my parents' place as a gift while they were on vacation.
I was there to ensure it went well, and noticed the opener was missing.
Ironically had he taken anything else I may not have noticed.
I confronted the man, and found the bottle opener hidden in his vehicle! For quite a while the running joke was that of all their earthly goods, the only item he apparently couldn't do without was the gift I had made:) Eventually this lead to discussions with my lovely wife about selling some of my creations to finance the hobby, and it went from there.

It was named after my great-grandfather George Mohnsen, a farmer who owned most of the roughly mile long creek when the state decided smaller tributaries needed names too.
