Detailed description is "Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness" Psalms 30:4 Voices of Praise, under the direction of Anthony Avery, is a gospel choir based out of the Morgan State University Memorial Chapel in Baltimore, MD. Membership is comprised of students,Former Students and Members of the community who strive to spread the Gospel and praise God through music on the University's campus as well as in the surrounding area. The group began in 2007 as a concept of Derek West; a student at Morgan who wanted a way start up multiple ministries on campus under the umbrella of Voices for Christ. He went to two of his fellow Morganites Tristan Morris and Anthony Avery to put together a choir to work towards this goal. These two young men along with 10 other students came together as a ministry and started what came to be known as Voices of Praise.. . Originally practicing anywhere they could on campus Voices of Praise sung for open mics at the various dorm rooms on campus however after attending a service at the campus chapel and hearing that the chapel was lacking musicians, vocalist, and equipment they agreed to sing as the chapel choir. Since that time Voices of Praise has not only to esteemed on the campus but also its popularity has grown in the DMV area.. . Some of the highlighted engagements have been Fauntroy Scholarship Program,Loyola and Johns Hopkins Gospel Jubilee, Multiple Concert in Baltimore,Eastern Shore, and DC and most recently Voices of Praise served as the choir for the OVC's National Victims of Crime Week Programs which included many well known political figure most notably U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder.
