Detailed description is A Phillips Academy Outreach Program, (MS)² offers summer academic scholarships to African American, Latino and Native American public high school students. (MS)² was founded in 1977 to address the compelling need to cultivate the mathematical and scientific abilities of economically disadvantaged African American, Latino, and Native American high school students from across the United States. . . Held on Phillips Academy’s historic campus in Andover, Massachusetts, the three-summer scholarship program challenges students intellectually, enhances their self-confidence, and provides essential college and career counseling. Daily interaction with peers and educators from diverse backgrounds opens students’ minds and broadens their thinking. . . This program is free of charge for all scholarship recipients. Candidates currently must be in the 9th grade in a U.S. public school and must complete one full year of algebra before entering the program. Eligible scholarship applicants include African American and Hispanic/Latino students who attend public schools in the cities of Atlanta; Baltimore; Boston; Chicago; Cleveland; Fort Worth, Texas; Lawrence, Mass.; Louisville, Ky.; Memphis, Tenn.; New York City; and Washington, D.C.
