Secondhand smoke is a health hazard that kills hundreds of Mississippians each year Throughout Mississippi's 82 counties, Mississippi Tobacco-Free coalitions works to reduce tobacco-related disease and death by educating all Mississippians about the dangers of tobacco and secondhand smoke, and by promoting tobacco cessation services. This coalition provides assistance to the Oktibbeha, Clay, & Lowndes service areas towards comprehensive smoke free ordinances.. This coalition is funded by a grant from the MSDH Office of Tobacco Control. We partner with a number of health advocacy organizations in MS including The Partnership for a Healthy Mississippi, the American Lung Association, the American Cancer Society, and the American Heart Association.
