It was established in 1984, when women and men in the community saw a need to provide support and accommodation for women and their children who needed to flee from abusive situations.. . An elected board of directors, comprised of volunteers, oversees two crisis shelters in Muskoka: Chrysalis, located in Huntsville, is a 10-bed shelter and offers an additional 10-unit supportive transitional housing facility; Muskoka Interval House (MIH), located in Bracebridge, is a 15-bed shelter and administrative office for MWAG.
