Nelson Cadet Unit is a Nelson youth organisation which falls under the structure and support of New Zealand Cadet Forces.. . We parade on a Tuesday night between the hours of 1830 and 2100.. . Recruitment age for cadets is between 13-16 or attending secondary school.. . NCU operates an open door policy, anyone interested is invited to attend any parade night where information can be sought and the new entrant program explored.. . We train in Drill, Navigation, First aid, Shooting, Casualty evacuation, RATEL, Military history and most importantly Leadership.. . NCU operates under a military style structure with a promotion system that encourages all cadets to improve their leadership and communication skills.. .
