Detailed description is New Beginnings of McPherson, Inc (NBOMI) provides individualized care based on the needs of the person. Residential Services:. New Beginnings clients own their own homes, or rent homes or apartments from landlords in the community they live in. We firmly believe in properly placing individuals into residential situations that will best fit their needs. Staff are provided in the homes based on level of supervision required. Our client to staff ratio is 3:1. Support staff work with individuals on hygiene issues, shopping, menu planning, finances, decision making, gaining independence, medication education, meal preparation, and are there to talk when a friend is needed.. . Day Services:. Day services mainly consists of community activities, life skills, and company projects. Both the McPherson and Newton locations have day service sites that clients have full access to. NBOMI holds a company membership to the McPherson YMCA and the Newton Recreation Center. Clients and staff regularly attend water walking, free swim, exercise, and participate in the various sports available. Every other week, clients and staff will pick up recyclable materials from homes and businesses in the community. Our clients really enjoy this as they feel they are contributing valuable help to the community.. . Supportive Home Care (SHC):. NBOMI serves children and adults who are funded through SHC/PAS funds. We enjoy having the children and their families participate in activities. This allows the individual to become familiar and comfortable with caregivers. NBOMI hires staff to work with children and also support self direction. We work with FMS agencies to allow families to have a choice in how they receive services.. . Targeted Case Management (TCM):. NBOMI employs 3 full time case managers. Children in services gain assistance in accessing resources in the community and planning their future. They attend IEPs and observe children in a school setting. TCM introduces families to potential caregivers and assist in the training process. The TCM role is to coordinate services for each individual. We do this with a hands on approach.. . Medical Coordination (MC):. NBOMI employs a Medial Coordinator who oversees all medical care for the Day and Residential clients. We feel that having one qualified person take care of all medical needs ensures consistent care. The MC takes care off all communication between medical providers, family members, and the support team. The MC oversees every medical appointment and runs the majority of them herself. The MC also ensures that medication is delivered correctly and administered as ordered. NBOMI also employs a full time RN. She assists with all medical services and provides on site training to both staff and clients. . . Direct Care Staff:. NBOMI employs a team of people that have a long working relationship with one another, which adds to the family style atmosphere. Staff members are vital to the company and are treated accordingly. Staff are trained thoroughly before working with clients. A majority of our staff are cross trained to work in other areas. This benefits the team as a whole and allows all employees and clients to know each other on a personal level..
