Every dollar spent with Next Step Farms does so much more than just buying great food - it saves lives. We are More Than Organic. . . WEEKLY VEGGIE BASKET PROGRAM:. We offer Garden Fresh, Pesticide-Free, Non-GMO Veggies as part of our WEEKLY Veggie Basket Program or CSA (Community Supported Agriculture). . The veggie basket program is a food production and distribution system that directly connects farmers and consumers. Consumers buy "shares" in a farm's harvest in advance. You get the privilege of reaping all the rewards of being an active shareholder in a local farm from first harvest with a few green onions and radishes possibly even spinach, through the beauty of fall harvest with potatoes and beautiful garlic getting ready for the long winter. . . Our program runs from July to the end of September. We provide a basket of fresh veggies weekly. Your harvest grows steadily as the season progresses until September when it begins to taper off. We share in the farm fresh experience the ups and the downs of the season and of course the risk and the reward. . . We use no type of pesticides….. NOT EVEN “ORGANIC PESTICIDES”. Not only are pesticides killing our beneficial insects like honeybees, wild bees and many butterflies, they’re not good for mammals, either. Many Organic pesticides are as lethal as inorganic pesticides. An organic pesticide is derived from a plant or animal, such as a bacterium, But still very possibly deadly to the environment and wildlife around the garden. Don’t be fooled by chain store “organics”.. . Our gardening practices have been handed down through the generations as we farm not only utilizing our own composted sheep manure but also using very little gas guzzling farm equipment. We chose to farm mostly by hand a technique lost to most farms today. Even many “conscious” farmers are burning tons of fuel for spraying, weeding and harvesting. . . MEAT:. We also offer local naturally raised, hormone-free, antibiotic-free, GMO-free beef, pork, and lamb. They are raised on local grasses and finished on barley. .
