Detailed description is A beautiful, quiet retreat on the Raid River.
3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and beds to accommodate 9 people.
Near snowmobile trails, the Torch Lake Sandbar, skiing, hunting, Traverse City...
Sitting on 2.5 acres and 100 ft of frontage on Raid River this large log home is within paddling distance to the famous Torch Lake sandbar.
You get the best of both worlds with this property.
You can feel like you are a million miles away from everything yet still being so close.
We are at a point in the river where no more motorized vehicles can pass so it is quiet and peaceful but just around the corner is the sandbar where you can anchor for the day, grab a burger at the Burger Barge or even order a pizza to be delivered to your boat from Fabianos.

The Elk River Chain of Lakes Watershed is a seventy-five mile-long waterway consisting of fourteen lakes and connecting rivers including what National Geographic ranked the third most beautiful lake in the world: Torch Lake.
We are also near many snowmobile and ORV trailheads as well as a short drive to several ski resorts.
If shopping, restaurants, golf, wineries and breweries are what you desire we are just a 20-minute drive into Traverse City.
There are beautiful hiking and snowshoeing trails out the back door or just minutes away in the National Forest, Skegemog or Grass River Natural Areas or Sand Lakes Quiet Area..

The name “Torch Lake” was derived from translation from the Ojibwa name Was-wa-gon-ong meaning "Place of the Torches", referring to the practice of the local Native American population who once used torches at night to attract fish for harvesting.
We felt it was fitting to name our home “Noopiming” which is Ojibwa for “in the woods”..

Noopiming is large and open.
Upstairs there is a large master with stained glass windows, skylights, king size bed and an en suite full bathroom with jet tub.
Outside of the master is a large loft with a second living area and a queen size bed.
On the main level, adjacent to the 2nd full bath, is a bedroom room with a full size bed.
One more bedroom rests at the foot of the stairs with a bunk bed (full on the bottom and twin on top).
All bedrooms have dressers, closets with hangers and ceiling fans.
We provide all bedding, pillows, bath towels, kitchen towels and beach towels.

The full size kitchen is equipped with anything you would need during your stay.
The downstairs living room has a 40” TV with blu-ray player and Wi-Fi.
We have a library of DVD’s for you to use as well as books and games.

Outside is very private.
We have a large screened in porch and above that, just across the catwalk above the kitchen, is a large deck that gets sun in the afternoon.
A short walk past the fire pit brings you to the dock on the river.
The water is clear and the sand is firm and white.
As I mentioned before, no motorized boats can pass our home.
The river gets shallow and there is a sand bar down the middle.
That’s right, we have our own sand bar! If you look down the river you will see our neighbors sitting in the middle of the river with his or her lounge chairs.
It’s perfect! Fishermen can paddle up stream and not be bothered and when the trout are running (in the spring/fall) you can almost grab them with your hands as they swim by the dock.

Our search for this home began with trying to find a rental for ourselves.
My husband is in a wheelchair and trying to find an accessible cabin let alone find one without steps or barriers to the waterfront was a challenge.
While we cannot yet claim that this home is ADA compliant, that is our goal.
The main floor including the bathroom and all doorways/hallways are accessible to someone in a wheelchair and there is a ramp in the garage for easy access in and out of the house..
