For over 100 years the site housed the police department, and criminal population of Wayne County. The building is also recorded for being the very last site for a public hanging in the state of Ohio. In 1977, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department was relocated across the street to a new facility, leaving more than 100 years of stories behind. . . . .
