Detailed description is The culinary journal of a restaurant owner and distributor of gourmet, all natural sauces, available at Winn-Dixie, Earth Fare, Lucky's Market, and more. “Out of the Weeds” is an extension of Three Birds Tavern, our restaurant located at 1492 4th Street North in beautiful, diverse and sunny St. Petersburg, Florida. After a successful career as a litigation attorney, my husband, Jack, retired and joined me in 2008, at the beginning of this adventure into the hospitality industry. The journey, for me, began at a very young age, and never ended; through travel, work, professional experiences and personal relationships.. . In June of 2009, we became proud, and naive, restaurant owners, and as many new business owners do, we were quickly consumed with the day-to-day events and happenings and found ourselves “in the weeds”. Many things were postponed during this time, including time with family, travel, expanding our business and exploring new business opportunities. Instead, we became bogged down with archaic plumbing and electrical systems, long hours, a non-compliant parking lot, frustrating staffing issues, a 140 plus year old building that needed attention most every day, just to name a few distractions. But after six years as tried-and-true restaurant owners, I came “out of the weeds” sufficiently to share with you a behind the scenes look at this crazy industry, take you along on some of our traveling culinary experiences, as well as hometown favorites, and share a bit of my personal journey as a 50-something year old female entrepreneur, devoted wife, doting mother and student of life.
