Every step along the manufacturing path was carefully monitored, from organic dyes to proper waste disposal. Bamboo was selected, among many reasons, because of its ability to yield as much as cotton, but from only 10% of the land area.. . But the desire to exist based on the entire ecological picture, gave rise to expanded business goals. We didn’t just want to provide sustainable goods, we wanted to empower people, and also draw a connecting line to animals, recognizing the symbiotic relationship they have with us, and the land.. . We believe there is great value in smaller communities and maintaining the traditions that allow them to thrive. One brilliant way to do this is with small livestock and poultry, that can live alongside humans and provide food and income. Compassionately raised animals can provide wool fiber, meat, milk, and eggs, enriching the lives of those who raise them. This not only facilitates trade and income, but can also encourage the traditions around processing wool fiber; spinning, knitting, felting, etc. It also nurtures a caring mentality; one that is aware of how everything is connected from start to finish.. In keeping with a fair and simplified approach, . . Pamplemosses has restructured its sustainable clothing operation to be online-based. We have cut out middle men and overhead, keeping affordability as a priority and cultivating a direct seller to buyer relationship. One small exception is that we are carried in a wonderful store downtown Asheville, NC, that believes in the same sustainable approach that we do. The next logical way to go forward with authenticity was to move our headquarters to a farm. This allows us to foster the things we are passionate about and be the very embodiment of what we preach.. . We are now an artist-owned, rare breed conservancy raising poultry and waterfowl, dual and triple-purpose goats and sheep, as well as the very special breeds of dogs and cats that help us manage the whole thing. Still providing beautiful, sustainable bamboo clothing, we are now truly multifaceted. We will soon be able to ship poultry and livestock worldwide; special breeds selected for how well their traits will fare in various regions where they were not previously available. . �.
