Detailed description is Pathways to Health NC is a holistic healing center that currently is home to a chiropractor, a psychologist and a massage therapist.
Meet the Team:.
.
Dr.
Carol Hardy, Chiropractic Physician.
.
Growing up on a large farm in western Nebraska as the fourth of five children gave me many wonderful memories and taught me many valuable lessons about life.
I attribute everything from my work ethic to appreciating the beauty and simplicity of nature to living in an environment where we depended on the land.
We were deeply grateful for its many and varied gifts, opportunities and challenges.
We learned to expect the unexpected and never took for granted what any given day would bring.
That versatility continues to serve me every single day.
.
.
I studied flute and piano, read voraciously, loved my sketch pad and my needlework, and never failed to volunteer when Mom needed help baking cinnamon rolls.
All of those things are still favored activities to this day.
I also found a sense of adventure, which as an adult, comes out in surprising ways such as a love for hot air ballooning, motorcycle riding and boating.
Hikes in nature or quietly sitting on a rock and pondering the wonders of the universe are as satisfying as cuddling up with my dog or passing the hours of the day with Mike, the love of my life.
.
.
Chiropractic is my third career and without a doubt my favorite.
I taught first and second grades in Apple Valley California for 6 years.
During my last year of teaching I studied massage therapy.
Upon completion of the 1000 hour course, I opened my own practice and thought I had found my passion.
I soon discovered a deep desire to be able to do more.
In 1999 I sold the massage therapy practice and began the next step in my journey at Los Angeles College of Chiropractic.
I graduated in 2002 and taught in the technique department for about a year and a half.
In 2003 the doors opened in amazing ways for me to move to North Carolina and in 2004 I opened the doors to Hardy Chiropractic.
Summer of 2013 brought a desire to spread my wings and Pathways to Health was born.
Three amazing women are now a part of the Pathways team and I can’t wait to meet the other two alternative health practitioners that will round out the team.
We take pride in creating the atmosphere of peace and relaxation that are imperative in the healing process..
.
To me chiropractic is less a form of health care and more a partnership with my patients in the journey of life, health, and wellbeing.
It is about meeting each patient where they are on any given day, supporting, encouraging, challenging, and working to move to the next level—whatever that means for each individual.
Watching quality of life improve and seeing how my patients use their self-care tool bags of exercise, nutrition, breathing and much more brings a sense of satisfaction that is beyond my ability to describe..
.
Dr.
Kena Will, Chiropractic Physician.
.
I was born and raised near the beautiful Adirondacks in Northern New York.
My interest in chiropractic began at a rather young age.
As a young and open minded twelve year old girl I attended a very inspirational presentation from a chiropractor at a job fair.
I was instantly hooked! When I returned home from school that day I told my parents that I was going to be a chiropractor when I grew up.
My parents were very supportive and even then I think they knew how sincere I was..
.
I received my Bachelor of Professional Studies and a Doctor of Chiropractic Degree at New York Chiropractic College.
I soon received news that my husband was being transferred to Fayetteville.
I was thrilled to begin a new chapter in my personal and professional life.
When I arrived in Fayetteville, I began reaching out to local chiropractors to find a sense of where I belonged and should build my professional home.
Dr.
Carol Hardy opened her practice, mind and heart to me.
I joined with Dr.
Hardy to help her resurrect her long time vision that is now Pathways to Health NC, a holistic healing center.
I am utterly grateful to work side by side with such a tremendous and talented group of individuals..
.
Fayetteville has welcomed my family and has become home more than anywhere else I have lived.
My husband and I are settled into our home and welcomed our son, Corbin, this year.
Becoming a mother has been the most amazing experience of my life.
I had a beautiful and easy pregnancy due to regular chiropractic care with Dr.
Hardy.
I have since become very passionate about the importance of prenatal and pediatric chiropractic care as a special part of my family practice.
I hope to serve the families of this community on their individual health and wellness journeys for years to come..
.
Dr.
Karen Lopez, Psychologist, HSP-P.
.
I provide individual and family psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and adults and some psychological assessments.
Areas of interest and expertise include working with adolescents, parent-child relationship difficulties, autism spectrum disorders, and helping individuals who have experienced traumatic events.
I also have done a considerable amount of work with people who experience depression and anxiety.
My approach to psychotherapy is Cognitive Behavioral, which means I help clients examine thoughts and behaviors that are affecting them, and we work together to examine and shift thoughts and behaviors.
I also integrate acceptance and mindfulness approaches in my work..
.
I have been practicing in Fayetteville since 2011, and I have been licensed as a psychologist since 2010.
I was born and raised in Lancaster, NY and earned my Ph.D.
in Counseling Psychology from the University of Buffalo in Buffalo, NY.
I completed an internship at the University of Kansas Medical Center, and a fellowship at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
I came to Fayetteville as the spouse of a military service member.
As such, I have a personal understanding of military life, and I enjoy working with service members, retirees, and military family members.
Since coming to Fayetteville, I have been a consultant at the Fayetteville UNC TEACCH center, which is a center that provides evaluations and education for individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders and their families.
I love my work, and I experience it as an honor and a privilege.
I continue to learn from my clients each day, and I am always striving to improve my practice.
.
.
Carestsa Whitted, Licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapist.
.
My journey of becoming a Massage Therapist began when I started receiving massages and felt the benefits of massage first-hand.
After massages, I felt so relaxed and renewed.
I thought it would be wonderful if I could offer the healing benefits of massage to others.
So, I began training at Sandhills Community College in Pinehurst, NC.
I have furthered my training, receiving certifications in Hot Stone, Prenatal and Sports Massage.
I have been licensed and practicing massage and bodywork therapy for the past 7 years.
I currently offer several different types of massage: Swedish, Deep Tissue, Hot Stone, Prenatal and Sports.
A massage session typically lasts an hour.
However, it can be as short as 30 minutes or as long as 90 minutes.
I pride myself in my ability to provide professional service, tailoring sessions to client needs, while also teaching clients about their bodies..
.
I love being a practitioner of massage therapy because massage is so important and beneficial for the body, mind and spirit.
Massage helps relieve patterns of tension and anxiety, while promoting healing.
It also feels great! Unfortunately, most of my clients come to me due to pain and discomfort.
Yet, one of the most rewarding things about my work is when clients come into the office in pain and leave feeling better.
I enjoy helping people one on one and feeling as thought I make a positive difference in people’s lives.
It is the best thing ever!
