Detailed description is Pathways is a non-profit social services organization committed to finding nurturing homes for abused, neglected or abandoned children in Texas. Pathways became a reality when founded in 1992. On May 8, 1992 Pathways Youth Home received a license to operate an independent therapeutic foster family home for six boys in the founders' home in Leakey, Texas.. . The home operated at full capacity with a long waiting list, which created the opportunity and led to a decision to expand capacity and help more children. On June 26, 1995 Pathways obtained its license to operate as a child-placing agency. By the end of that year Pathways employed four staff and cared for 25 children in Leakey and Kerrville. In 1996 Pathways expanded into San Antonio and started a behavioral health group.. . Over the next 15 years, Pathways services expanded across the state of Texas with In-Home Services, Adoption, Foster Care, Behavioral Health, Therapy, Wraparound and a Teen Wilderness Program.. . Today, Pathways has service centers in Austin, Abilene, Corpus Christi, Conroe, Dallas/Fort Worth, Del Rio, Houston, Kerrville, Laredo, Midland/Odessa, Mountain Home, McAllen and San Antonio. Now and in the future, with over 100 employees, 50 mental health professionals and 300 families and facilities serving over 500 clients at present, Pathways will continue to fulfill its mission by seeking new opportunities to help families make positive changes and create environments where children can thrive.
