And at 7:30 PM we walked into the West Columbia Church of Christ and took a seat on a pew, near the back of course. We then watched and listened to the thirty-five men and women present discuss, explore, and consider the possibility of a church of Christ camp for South Carolina. To us ‘time travelers’ some things would be obvious. No one here is wealthy, no one is very experienced with a summer camp, and no camp location noted on a chalk board. However what is undeniable, as we witness their faith and determination, is an abiding belief in the awesome power of the works of God. And based only on this faith in God, by 10:50 PM when they walk past us for their late drive home, this small group of Christians had committed to founding what would come to be known as Palmetto Bible Camp. . . Now, 50 years later, for all who have been blessed by being a part Palmetto Bible Camp we will take a couple hours and celebrate these blessed years. During this time we will honor every facet of PBC. We will joyfully sing of God’s greatness, deeply thank our Lord for His mighty acts, and totally praise God the King. We will prayerfully ask His will to be done for many more safe and spiritual weeks together. And we will applaud the men and women, staff and campers, camp weeks and events that are part of the 50 year history of PBC. The celebration will begin with Gail Cooper’s famous cinnamon rolls, include presentations from each current camp week, a special honoring of the camp founders, and more. . . All of this better said, “I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name forever and ever. Every day I will praise you and extol your name forever and ever. Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom. One generation will commend your works to another; they will tell of your mighty acts. They will speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty, and I will meditate on your wonderful works. They will tell of the power of your awesome works, and I will proclaim your great deeds.
