Detailed description is The new environmentally friendly Pell Library opened in April 2009 on South Ferry Road in Narragansett, Rhode Island. It is approximately 13,000 sq. feet and fully LEED Silver certified. The Pell Library's 68,000 volume research collection emphasizes all oceanographic disciplines, including: biological, chemical, geological, and physical oceanography, marine biology, fisheries, marine and atmospheric chemistry, marine geology, coastal habitats, geosciences, and GSO's most recent specialty, archaeological oceanography. The collection includes monographs, scientific journals, theses, CD ROM's, videos, DVDs, and a Special Collections room.
