Detailed description is The City of Pittsfield is working with VHB, Inc. and a local steering committee to develop a new concrete skatepark at the corner of East St. and Appleton Avenue. The goal of the project is to convert the existing city owned parcel (which currently contains tennis courts) into the premier skate and BMX facility in Western Massachusetts. Using funding provided by the MA Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs along with capital funding provided by the City of Pittsfield, the project design phase was initiated in early March and will be completed by the end of June, 2011. Construction of this concrete skate 'plaza' will begin sometime in the summer of 2011.
