Hwy 50 O'Fallon IL 62269 A 501c3 charity.Randy’s Therapeutic Rescue Ranch will provide a safe haven for abused dogs, older dogs and horses and other animals that need extra enrichment, training and loving care above and beyond what we can provide at the Stray Rescue Pine Street Center. The ranch will serve as a safe, healthy place for our city shelter dogs to visit/stay as part of their critical emotional rehabilitation process. This extra attention and care will be a wonderful environment to prepare them for a permanent adoptive home. These animals would benefit, both mentally and physically, from the environment that a healthy ranch sanctuary atmosphere can provide. The sanctuary will also free space at the Pine Street center for animals who may not need the extra attention in order to be adopted into loving homes, thus allowing us to save more lives each year. . . Rescue Ranch Hospice House. The ranch feature an old ranch house which will be renovated and used as a hospice house for Stray Rescue elderly senior dogs and dogs with disabilities like Grace & OP. These senior dogs will experience how to live in a home with loving care from our in-house staff which will be available 24/7. As a sanctuary for hospice and elderly dogs, the rest of their lives will be spent in a loving, healthy atmosphere. An opportunity to name this Hospice House in your company’s name or family’s name for a tax-deductible donation is available. . . Service Paws for Veterans & Non-Veterans . Randy’s Rescue Ranch will offer a wide array of programs including, but not limited to, beneficial children’s programs, assisting the disabled, PTSD programs for veterans and outreach to impoverished communities to gain a better understanding of animal guardianship. This broad spectrum of programs encompasses health and human services programs, in addition to animal welfare. The dogs living on the property will be enriched with playgroups, hiking and swimming. The Ranch will offer the following programs:. . • PTSD Programs - Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder involves an underlying state regulation disorder, which is often hypersensitivity to sound. While further research needs to be done, service dog intervention is increasingly being recommended by clinicians in addition to the current treatment plans for people living with this kind of anxiety and fear. A service dog may significantly help with some of the major symptoms and improve overall quality of life. Stray Rescue started training service and therapy dogs in January 2016 and to-date have adopted out 10-15 Certified Service and Therapy Dogs. Currently, 10 dogs are in training to be certified service and therapy dogs and in partnership with St. Clair’s Heart Foundation, these dogs will be helping homeless veterans. A specially trained PTSD dog can provide a sense of security, calming effects, and physical exercise that can make a positive difference in the lives of those that suffer with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Like all assistance dogs, a psychiatric service dog is individually trained to do work or perform tasks that mitigate their handler's disability.. . . • Children with Special Needs - Our program for children with autism usually requires more time, training and thought. There are a number of ways that our service dog can help such as tethering, deep pressure therapy, acting as a deterrent for self-harm, calming tantrums and meltdowns, and serving as an anchor to help with bolting, self-confidence building, so on and so forth.
