Detailed description is Federally funded Upward Bound Program serving students at Pike Central High School & East Ridge High School. The REACH Upward Bound Program is a federally funded program that was brought to Pikeville, KY in September of 2012 and sponsored locally by ASAP Plus Inc, a 501(c)(3) non-profit community outreach organization. The REACH Upward Bound Program currently serves students attending Pike Central High School & East Ridge High School. . . To be eligible for Upward Bound, a student’s family must meet income guidelines established by the U.S Department of Education and/or be a potential first-generation college student. A first-generation college student is one from a family in which neither parent possesses a bachelor’s degree.. . During the academic school year, Upward Bound students receive support services and encouragement through career, academic, & personal counseling, tutoring, and social & cultural activities. During the summer, students live on the campus of University of Pikeville in Pikeville, KY for six weeks where they are exposed to a plethora of benefits, such as academic courses, enrichment courses, field trips, and a variety of social events.
