Detailed description is Peace, Liberty, Sound Money. Bring Our Troops Home, Respect Individual Liberty, and Restore Honesty in our Monetary System..Richard Ehrbar has earned a reputation among his peers and fellow activists as a passionate and charismatic individual dedicated to the proper defense of individual liberty for ALL. As a Libertarian candidate for congress in Ohio’s newly created third district (Columbus, Ohio), Richard believes in a peace-based foreign policy of respect and mutual trade; maximizing Constitutional rights by vowing to never use government as a tool of force against peaceful people; and a robust economy based on honesty and mutual benefit. Richard will fervently fight to end the rampant corruption in our nation’s capitol by never voting for legislation that isn’t in accordance with the United States Constitution. He truly places people over politics.. . Richard was born and raised in Huron, Ohio before graduating from Port Clinton High School in 2001. After graduation, Richard labored in north central and northwest Ohio factories and restaurants, earning his way to college in 2006 at the age of twenty-four. Richard studied Telecommunications at Bowling Green State University (BGSU) while becoming well-known among his fellow students and community members for his non-stop involvement in campus radio and activism. In 2009, Richard led a student movement which became the first and only in the 100+ year history of BGSU which forced a student-wide referendum challenging a previously approved student government resolution. The previously approved resolution gave support for a $120.00 per year fee which would subsidize the remaining twenty-three million dollars needed to construct a thirty-six million dollar multi-purpose athletic and entertainment facility. BGSU’s student government ignored passionate pleas to put the proposed fee increase to a student-wide vote – instead siding with the strong suggestion of the university’s administration. Days later, Ehrbar facilitated a petition drive which garnered over 1,300 signatures in a matter of six hours which allowed the issue to be put to straight to a special ballot, giving the students at BGSU the extremely rare and strongly opposed opportunity to vote on a fee increase.. . While a student and activist at BGSU from 2006-2008, Richard also served as a disc jockey, NCAA sports broadcaster, sports talk show host, political talk show host, Operations Manager, and Treasurer for one of the university’s two radio stations, 88.1 WBGU-fm. During the Spring of 2008, Richard was elected by the BGSU School of Media and Communication Studies Scholarship Committee to serve as the 2008-2009 President for BGSU’s online radio station, WFAL Falcon Radio.. . After moving to Columbus in the Spring of 2010, Richard enrolled as a Strategic Communication major at The Ohio State University. In addition to being a student running for congress, Richard works three jobs – sharing in the struggle and unique perspective of the working class American. Richard is a 3.5 grade point average student, and has been nominated for the Phi Sigma Theta National Honor Society.. . Working to overcome great odds and achieve what some have irrationally deemed impossible are what Richard has done best during twenty-nine humble and grateful years as an Ohioan. Driven by a positive attitude and an inspiring compassion for his fellow person, Richard will do the same as a Libertarian candidate for one of the nation’s highest elected offices. Richard plans to become the first Libertarian elected to congress in the history of the United States of America.. . As evidenced by the Swahili nickname “Mtu wa watu” (translated to English as “the man of the people”) that his Kenyan and Tanzanian friends gave to him while studying at BGSU, Richard truly cares about the welfare of his fellow man and will fight his hardest to return America to its proper standing as a nation of peace and prosperity.
