Detailed description is Quality Children's Horseback Riding Instruction, Specializing in ages 2.5-5 Ms. Shelley's Pony School is an innovative program designed to introduce young children (ages 2-5) to the world of horses. Each class runs 60-90 minutes and includes stories, songs, hands-on activities, a horse lesson, a craft/manipulative, and a short riding lesson, with the children gradually learning to control the pony at the walk themselves. I try to keep class sizes under 6 children. The classes currently take place at Majestic Reins Stables in Shenandoah Junction, WV (more info on the facility and directions at www.majesticreinsstable.com). Because of the types of activities involved, I do ask that an adult be present at all times with each child. This is an ideal program for small children who are fearful around large animals, but will also provide enough hands-on time to please children more eager to interact with the horses.
