The Rose City Historical Fencing Collective (HFC) consists of like-minded individuals that have a strong passion for Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA). We are a HEMA practical/study group for those seeking to improve their art, through knowledge and application. . . Our interests are broad and include longsword, sword & buckler, messer, military sabre, but our focuses lies in sidesword and rapier combat. We study a wide variety of historic-period sources ranging from the 15th to 17th centuries that include works by fencing masters Agrippa, Capo Ferro, Di Grassi, Docciolini, Fabris, Giganti, Manciolino, Marozzo, Meyer, and Ringeck.. . The Rose City HFC is an affiliate of the HEMA Alliance, a nonprofit organization that supports the education, safety, and awareness of the HEMA community. We also host the Portland chapter of the Loyal Order of the Sword and graciously welcome those from other groups and societies whom share our interests. As a HEMA Alliance affiliate, we adhere to their safety policy and please do as well if you visit. . .
