The Kiwanis Club of Roxbury-Succasunna holds our regular meetings at the Asian Diner at the Quality Inn, 1691 Rte 46 westbound, Ledgewood, NJ 07852.. We meet on the 2nd and 4th Thursday nights at 7 pm. Dinner and meeting last about 1 hour to 1-1/2 hours. Cost is determined by what you want to eat and drink. . Our service projects include, but are not limited to:. Imagination Station. Children’s Street Fair. Work the St. Therese Carnival . Co-Sponsor a fishing derby in early spring, usually the 3rd Saturday of April, with the township at Ledgewood Pond . Help staff the Merry Heart 5K Run . Help staff the Light the Night Walk for the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society . Sell 50/50 tickets for the drawing at the Craft Market or Special Event . Sell Entertainment Books . Visits to Merry Heart, local hospitals, and 2 Dialysis centers . Visits/Care and/or transport for shut-ins, cancer, heart attack and stroke patients to doctors, hospitals and labs . Holiday food, clothing and gift donations for needy Roxbury residents . Do maintenance and administrative work at the Roxbury Dialysis Center and local churches . Coach Soccer and Little League teams . Provide leadership, mentoring and sponsorship to local Scouts . Roxbury Night Out. Provide accounting, HR consulting, computer support, grant preparation and serve on Boards of Directors for non-profit organizations the following Charitable non-profit Organizations: Roxbury Day Care Center, Spirit Filled Riders (Therapeutic Horseback Riding for Handicapped Children). Roxbury Dialysis Center . Tax preparation for children and needy seniors and families . Assist with Habitat for Humanity projects. Assist St Therese with Social Justice. Assist with March of Dimes Walk, American Cancer Society Relay for Life, Breast Cancer Walk, Light the Night Walk for Leukemia/Lymphoma/Myeloma, the Buddy Walk for Down Syndrome awareness, MS Walk, Hunger Walk, and Merry Heart 5K. . This year we will be sponsoring a K-Family Event - a Spaghetti Dinner. Roxbury Kiwanis and our sponsored youth groups: Roxbury HS Key Club, Eisenhower Kiwanis Builders Club, Lincoln-Roosevelt Kiwanis K-Kids, will all work together on this project. Roxbury Key Club and Roxbury Kiwanis team up to run K-Family Events. We are proud to say that the entire Roxbury Kiwanis Family sponsored youth groups did work on Imagination Station teardown and rebuild, and we are very proud of Key Clubber, Alyssa Weickert who designed the logo on all the shirts, website and media.. . Children’s Specialized Hospital. Project Life Saver in Morris County. . Recently the New Jersey District of Kiwanis approved a 10 year commitment to raise $500,000 for the new Children’s Specialized Hospital to be constructed adjacent to Robert Wood Johnson, and we have already donated over $185,000 to date. Previously NJ children were sent to NYC or Philadelphia for treatment. This project will enable them to receive treatment in New Brunswick, in the largest pediatric rehabilitation hospital in the US. Of the $500,000, the first half will go towards physical and occupational therapy equipment, and the remainder will be used to set up an endowment fund for uninsured/under insured children or those whose insurance company has rejected funding their treatment.. . The Roxbury High School Key Club has 250 members (9th thru 12th graders). Our Eisenhower Builders Club currently has 81 members (7th and 8th graders). The Lincoln-Roosevelt Kiwanis K-Kids has about 75 members (5th and 6th graders). Unfortunately due to budget our newest group, the Jefferson Kiwanis K-Kids with 35 members 2nd-4th graders has ceased to exist, but the programs have been rolled out throughout the school. Last 2 years both the Builders Club and K-Kids were honored by the Roxbury VFW Auxiliary for their projects for the soldiers in Iraq, Afghanistan, and local NJ vets. One of our Builders Clubbers was selected as Outstanding Young Volunteer, and 2nd place went to another Eisenhower Builders Club member.. . The primary goal of Kiwanis is to make a difference in the lives of children, in our communities, and in our world. . . There is a one-time $25 initiation fee. Dues are adjusted pro-rata based on when you join and are payable annually by October 10th and are currently $105. Member application form is attached.. . ONE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE !!!
